Here we are, fellow Planeteers, with another issue of our newsletter.

This month we are introducing a new graphic version of our electronic magazine, as you can see, all in html format. That's because it makes it easy to read and faster when looking for articles and information. And also because, well... after playing around with "The Global Telegraph" we could not resist the captivating graphics and continue to send you the plain old e-mail newsletter, rich in content, but with no "look".

This is not the only news we have for you this month, though.

Let's jump right on our statistics, to take them all out of the way, mentioning that we were *so* close to score one million hits this month! Instead the counter for February stopped at 969,607, still making us very proud for the loyalty and the attachment you demonstrated to Run The Planet, your website and community. And the numbers keep rolling!

But enough with the self-celebrations. Another new Run The Planet webpage makes the news, and it is "Running with the bulls". Yes, it sounds a little akward, but it is nontheless a running related webpage. We are always looking forward to bringing you the best that the running world has to offer worldwide. I bet everyone has heard, sooner or later, about the San Fermin Fiesta in Spain, were they set some bulls free on the Pamplona city streets. Well... what else to say? It is a nice way to improve your speed. Read everything from tips for runners, to specific information on the course in this brand new webpage.

But if you think that running in front of a bull is your worst nightmare, wait and pay a visit to "A run in Hell", one of this month's new additions to Tell The Planet. It reports the story about a fellow German runner that saved the life of one of the participants of the gruesome "Marathon des Sables" in the Moroccan desert. Now that's overcoming the language barriers and celebrating the real Run The Planet community spirit! Give him a hand.

Speaking about community, our group of Run The Planet Satellites grew larger, and this month feature two new additions to the "family". Welcome the websites Adelaide Running from Australia and the official homepage of the oldest race in Chicago, the "Chicago Distance Classic" from Illinois.

That's all for March. We'll keep this one short.
Have fun running, and as usual keep running the planet.

Description of the month - Paracas (Peru)
By Indro Neri - A few kilometers from the town of Paracas there is the Reserva Nacional, a natural peninsula on the Pacific Ocean, that since September 1975 protects the local flora and fauna. There is a nominal fee to enter this national Peruvian park. The environment is mainly desertic and, if you like to run in the open spaces like me, there is one relatively short asphalted road (approximately 8 kilometers) that goes from the entrance to the northeast point of Puerto San Martin, at the end of which a non interesting fish plant is located. It is a nice simple course with really breathtaking views. The Reserva Nacional offers though also the possibility of running off-road. There is a dirt "road" that runs along the south coast of the peninsula. By following this path in the desert, emotions and feelings will rise to new levels (it is sooo beautiful!), and after approximately 5k you will reach the tiny village of Lagunillas. There is nothing there but sand, a couple of small places to eat fresh fish, fishermen, the occasional seal, and numerous pelicans. The panorama and the color of the water alone is worth a visit. If you feel like running 5 more kilometers, along the same path, you will reach Punta Arquillo where the splendid rock formation called "La Catedral" can be seen from lookout point at the top of the cliff. Ultramarathoners, or those like me dreaming to participate to the "Marathon des Sables" in Morocco, can keep running along the coast of the peninsula to Punta Lechuza, Punta Lagarto, Playa Culebras (right in front of the Isla San Gallán), Playa Los Viejos, Playa Talpo, Punta Ripiol and eventually find Puerto San Martin and the asphalted road. A compass is strongly advised if you want to cross the peninsula desert from left to right. In your journey you might be able to spot sealions, flamingoes, and the regal condor of the Andes. In any case make sure to bring plenty of water, because the course is completely out in the wild (and, again, it is in the desert!).

The strides of future
By Edith & Christian Grollé
Paperback, 52 pages
Auto Edition (2001), ISBN: 2951722036

The universe, nature, oceans, animals, human beings and matter itself work on alternating rythms of contraction and espansion, ebb and flow, expiration and inspiration. Why not be inspired by there natural alternating movements to run forward and backward? This is the unusual subject of this publication, available in English, Italian and French. If you include backward running in your everyday training, you will add the beneficial physiological, psychological and sociological effects of backward running. The authors are the witnesses of "a great sport and therapeutic revolution which offers new and tremendous perspectives to future generations". Retromovements contribute to recovering, develop health and energy, and allow to live in a better harmony with nature. Could the alternation of forward and backward running be the key to our future evolution?
