Boulder Backroads Marathon - September. Run on soft pack dirt country roads in beautiful rural Boulder county in early autumn, with great views of the snow-capped Front range. Boulder's first marathon in more than 15 years. Start and end at the Boulder Reservoir, and travel out north of the Rez on gentle, quiet country lanes, with just a few rolling hoills. Annual Steamboat Marathon - June. Selected by Runner's World as one of the "10 Most Scenic Marathons of the Year" (February 1996) and one of the "Top 10 Destination Marathons in North America" (March 1999). The USATF Certified Course begins at historic Hahns Peak Village, follows a paved country road down the Elk River Valley, and finishes at the courthouse in downtown Steamboat Springs. Starting elevation is 8,128' and the finishing elevation is 6,728' (note: event also includes half marathon, 10k run, 10k fitness walk, and fun run).
