The Three Challenges: a great run to test your endurance and mental strength in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. The run begins in Five Ways Paddington outside the Royal Hotel. Make your way through to Ocean Road and turn left down to New South Head Road. Once on the corner turn right on New South Head Road and run down the hill to Double Bay. Turn right again into Bellevue Hill Road which is a couple of km's uphill which is your first challenge. Once you make the top of the hill (and recover little), hug the right hand side of the road until you come to the park on your left hand side. Whilst the view is lovely pay attention to the steep series of stairs below which become the second challenge. I usually do five to ten sets up the stairs from bottom to top which is an excellent workout for the legs. By now you are somewhat depleted if you have had a crack at it. Go down the stairs to the bottom once again and continue on the path through the gardens. A pathway follows the creek past the tennis courts, then a park and then another road. Cross the road to the street at the immediate left of the shops. This is the final challenge which is about a 500m run up an extremely steep hill. As you go up the hill stay on the right hand side and keep going up the steps when the road finishes. This takes you up onto another road prior tocoming to a T intersection. Turn right and then left into Queen Street and make your way back to Five Ways. In all its about 12kms and will definitely challenge you to the limit. A limit which only you can judge of course.
