I spent one year at McMurdo, as a deep freeze Winter-Over in 1993-94. The Castle Rock walk and run path was very nice. What was great during that winter was an iceberg that was trapped in the frozen Ross Sea just a few miles from McMurdo. It was added to the cross country skiing trails for that winter. Also, a small note, you had to run in pairs most of the time anywhere in McMurdo and the outside areas, for safety reasons.
