While there are lots of guns in evidence I did not see any hostile intentions. The gun holders are private security guards at most establishments and some homes. Running during the day would not be pleasant because of the many diesel buses and cars spewing out gases. The evening created an atmosphere that seems hostile. Robbery is prevalent. I did see what appeared to be local runners. But never had a chance to speak with them. Which can be a problem as Spanish is prevalent and English is often not spoken. Mornings are the best time for runs. The weather is cooler and humidity is at a minimum. My three runs were at 5:00 am on an incomplete four lane highway just outside the downtown area. It is a hill, and can be run for two or more miles. Round trips can produce most anything for mileage. The area is rural with some small villages on either side. I parked the car at the bottom of the hill and ran my loops.
