Funafuti is the name of the main atoll and seat of government in Tuvalu and the only real "town". There are two main roads (sandy pathways really, wide enough for a couple of compact car to pass each other) which occasionally converge into one runing the length of the main islet (Tuvalu is a nation of 8 atolls). Starting at one end of the islet, near the end of the airport runway, you would run past the Library & Archives, government buildings and the Vai Akulagi Hotel, thru the main residential "district", past a few co-op stores and a couple of churches and beyond the University of the South Pacific's Extension Centre to the docks near the "borrow pits" (where the U.S. army scooped land to build the air field during WWII - and never filled in afterwards... though I hear they are being filled now) at the opposite end. Only a couple of miles, but a nice run just the same.
