I recommend a run along the Seine River in the early morning (at sunrise). Start by heading east from the Eiffel Tower toward the Louvre. When you near the Louvre, cross one of the bridges to run the courtyard of the Louvre. Nothing's better than running and seeing this magnificent building when there is no one else there to get in the way. Cross over one of the bridges and watch the sun rise above the buildings turning the buildings pink as you head back toward the Eiffel Tower. There are a handful of runners out as well as city workers. Most people are friendly and offer a "Bon Jour" as you pass. I felt completely safe and there are sidewalks to keep out of traffic as well as lights at every intersection making crossing easy and safe.
