An area just outside downtown Bamako on the road along the Niger river called the Cité du Niger is a highly favored spot for joggers, and some runners in Bamako. It is located on an island in the Niger and is a very calm, very green residential quarter. Also, the road upwards from Bamako beginning at the National Museum and leading to the town of Kati is highly praised for the strenuous workout it provides, as well as the excellent view of the city (Bamako) it offers. This road is however well frequented by drivers, and runners and joggers need be alert to road traffic.
