Cilaos, near the center of the island, is a great place for hiking. The region affords beautiful views, and there are places where steam rises from the ground. Cascade de Bras Rouge is a day walk that begins from town and descends to the old thermal station and then traverses the slopes above the Bras des Étangs. You'll arrive at the waterfall Cascade de Bras Rouge in just a couple of hours.
