Colombo is the capital and about 30 miles from the International Airport, you could ran in any of the parks, but the climate can be hot, plan for around 86 °F in the day, the best times, are late evening say after sunset which is around 6 pm, or in the mornings. The best for you would be in the Central Hill Country around Kandy 72 miles from Colombo or Nuwara Eliya about 4 hours from Kandy, If you could arrange it the best would be to ran in one of the Tea Plantations between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Plantation road have absolutely no traffic and can winding and hilly, cool and the countryside is beautiful, but you will need permission from the owners and/or operators. While in Sri Lanka be careful: there could be political unrest, check with the State Department and keep in touch with the Us Embassy in Colombo.
