Along the Thames from Hammersmith Bridge, the oldest suspension bridge spanning the river, on the North side to Barnes Bridge. Across Barnes Bridge (rail/footbridge only) to Barnes Bridge Railway Station. From here a nice option in drier weather is to go along the footpath past the Nature Reserve, Swedish School and St Paul's School to Hammersmith Bridge. If its too wet, then turn right through Barnes High Street. Along side the Common next to Barnes Pond will take you through to Lower Richmond Road and downhill into Putney. At Putney Bridge, a left turn will take you back to the river past all of the rowing clubs along the footpath to the oldest suspention bridge spanning the Thames! This is about 8 miles but can be combined or reduced to suit the conditions of the weather or the runner!
