Running the city walls in Chester is an interesting experience. The walls enclose the inner city of Chester as they have since before the Roman era. Ruins of Saxon encampments are side by side with Roman amphitheatres. While I didn't measure the distance, the round trip is close to 5k. Most of it is on the city walls, with sections down to street level. It is wide enough to accommodate runners and casual tourists, but I'd recommend running in the early morning to avoid the crush of the bus tours... There are some rather beautiful sights and vistas, especially as the wall approaches the cathedral. All in all a delightful run.
