This is an undulating 10k loop starting and finishing at 220 metres above sea level at North Bridge and rising to about 375 metres in Holyrood Park: start at the junction of North Bridge and the High Street (Royal Mile). Turn left into High Street, proceed along High Street and continue as road becomes Canongate. At the Palace of Holyrood turn right into Horse Wynd. You will see Holy Rood Park and the hill Arthurs Seat facing you. Go straight ahead and then left into Queen's Drive (cross the road to run on the path). Continue along the path and grass verge on the right hand side of the road, ignore the path with a "no entry" sign and continue until you see a St Margaret's Loch on your right hand side. At St Margaret's Loch the road splits, take the right hand fork that climbs the hill. Follow Queen's Drive all the way around Holy Rood Park, keeping the hill Arthur's seat on your right hand side as you run around. Once around the Park, the road falls away sharply to return you to the entrance at Horse Wynd. Retrace your steps along Canongate and High Street until you return to North Bridge once more.
