If you don't even want to leave the centre of town, here is a run of about four miles (6.5k) through Gerddi Sophia (Sophia Gardens) which are to be found behind Cardiff Castle. From the main entrance to the castle, run west along the main road, over the elegant Edwardian bridge which spans the river Taf (pronounced Taav) or Taff to the English for reasons best known to themselves. Turn right into Gerddi Sophia, and follow the paths past Canolfan Chwaraeon Cymru (Welsh Sports Centre) and the Glamorgan County Cricket Ground, up as far as Rhodfa'r Gorllewin (Western Avenue). Turn right along the road, and over yet another Edwardian bridge, re-entering the park at the far end of the bridge. Follow the paths back down to the castle, keeping the river Taf on your right hand side. Bydded hwyl ar eich arhosiad gyda ni, ac ar eich rhedeg (May your stay with us, and your running, be full of joy).
