Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes. If your stay in Cardiff is more than a few days, try to get out to Merthyr Mawr near Bridgend, some 20 miles west of Cardiff along the M4. These sand dunes are the breakfast of champions - Steve Ovett used to do monster sessions here. The dunes and the beach stretch for miles and are great for an easy run (if running on sand can ever be easy) or for hill/interval sessions.
