There is a 2.5 km circuit inside the Universidad Federal do Para, in the norther part of the city, along the banks of the river. It is a flat street that circles the University and a favourite spot for the locals to exercise. The bitumen surface is uneven in places but much better than any of the surrounding streets. About half of the course is shaded by trees, but better to run in the morning, it is always hot in Belem. Do it four times for a good 10k, or get out in the north east end towards the road that exits the University buildings and meanders within the University grounds.
