If you're staying in Frankfurt, the Main river provides a nice running environment. From the area around the Intercontinental Hotel, you can run along the river bank on a packed dirt trail/gravel trail and run across several bridges without ever having to stop at traffic lights or anything. There are stairs that descend from every bridge down to the path. Easy to get around. By the way, not many women there run, so expect some stares if you're a woman. There is a long path on both sides of the Main river. The side opposite of the Intercontinental Hotel eventually leads to a wooded, peaceful running/biking area. If you're standing in front of the hotel facing the river, you would need to cross the river and head to the left. There's also some nature trails heading out of the city toward the Autobahn (about 10-15 minutes by car from river area), but I never had an opportunity to check them out.
