One of the very popular run in Lausanne is to simply follow the lakeside to the east. The best place to start from, would be at the track Stade de Pierre de Coubertin. It's close to the shore, within the park of Vidy. There are change rooms open to the public, and you can even have a shower there if you want (a modest contribution of 1Fr is asked to use the these facilities). The track and field facilities are open to the public, so it's also a good place if you want to run intervals or do some speedwork. So just get close to the shore and follow the path towards the west (right if you are facing the lake). The path follows the shore for a good 15 km and you can still keep going after that. A couple of times you will have to leave the shore (some of it is private property), and follow a parallel road. If it is a clear day, the views from the shore are breathtaking, you might even see the Mt Blanc at 4800 meters of altitude. There's restrooms and drinking water on the way. Unfortunately most of this run is on tarmac but you can expect little or no traffic on the sections were you have to run on the road. Be aware that in summer, this is also a very popular walkway for families and it might get crowded on sundays. As the path follows the shore, this run has no hills.
