To combine sightseeing and running in Hamburg, run along the River Elbe. Starting point of an out-and-back run of up to 30 km (or any shorter length) is the museum port of Övelgönne, a 5-minute drive from downtown (usually there is enough parking) or Bus 112. The run takes westward past some quaint fishermen's houses, along alleys to Blankenese with a definte air of mediterranean feeling (about 10 km), then on through more deserted areas to the place where all incoming and outcoming ships are greated by the City of Hamburg. There are public restrooms and cafes along the way. If you do not want to turn back, take public transportation back to the starting point (several possibilities along the way).
