Run The Planet is proud to introduce our new affiliate Run.com, the best running route resource on the web. If you are looking for a new San Francisco running route, or want to share your favorite San Francisco running routes with the rest of the word, Run.com is the place to be.
If you're staying downtown, head toward the Ferry Building (big clock on front) on the Embarcadero. Follow the Embarcadero left through Fisherman's Wharf, Aquatic Park, and up a little hill and over past the Marina Green, past the St. Francis Yacht Club (note the Palace of Fine Arts surrounded by a beautiful lagoon to your left and be sure take a short detour over to see it up close), then head out along Crissy Field with the waves crashing into the beach on your right, and up toward the Golden Gate Bridge using one of the side roads or trail steps (just past what used to be the Coast Guard Station and is now the Gorbachev Research Center on your right). You can take a side trip through the Presidio or go on across the glorious Golden Gate Bridge to Vista Point. From Vista Point you can either follow the road right to Sausalito or, much better, go left under the bridge and follow the trails over the Marin Headlands with spectacular views! You're in for a treat if you've never run here before! Have fun!
