Waitomo, approximately 3 hourse drive from Auckland, is where many of New Zealand's unique wonders are found: beautiful native forests, caves, falls, rich local history. The Waitomo Walkway is a short forest walk which starts opposite the glow-worm caves. An easy grade 5k walk, it follows the Waitomo Stream through cool luxuriant forest, open farm land, and loops through the spectacular Ruakuri Cave and Bush Scenic Reserve.
