The Lakes. Ten kilometers from town to the Lake Hills. Farm on the inland road (permission to be obtained from Mr Dowle, tel. 3195538). You will be directed across paddocks to Lake Rotoiti, the smaller of the lakes but with the grater variety of bird life. Lake Rotorua is further on. It is not ideal for picnics and is recommended mainly for birds watching. Omihi Lookout. Nineteen kilometres south on Sh1, the start of the track is one kilometre south of Goose Bay. Cross the railway track to a map board. Up to the lookout and return is an easy 45 minutes.
