Around Arnhem you can choose from a variety of courses: North: the Veluwe, where you'll find), moorland, woods and hills, up to about 100 meters, which in this flat country are often called "berg" (mountain). There, on an autumn evening, I startled a group of wild boars. Well, to be honest, they startled me. Further north-west is the Nationaal Park Hoge Veluwe (www.hogeveluwe.nl), where an entrance fee is required. West: you can run along the river Nederrijn. Take the Rijndijk south of the river, but beware of speeding cars. Especially nice in the summer. You can cross the river at Heteren and run back via Doorwerth and Oosterbeek. This is well over 20k. South: the polder between the rivers Nederrijn and Waal, with long, straight roads and almost completely flat. Perfectly fit for long distance running.
