The Grand Union canal. I have run from Horsenden Hill in West London to Islington in East London and it is ideal running, apart from a couple of short stretches as you are off-road, get a real variety of scenery and it is quieter than the Thames paths. (Contrary to another entry the perimeter track of Richmond Park is in fact approximately 7.5 miles).
