A great noon time run in Wiesbaden starts at the Kurpark downtown off of Wilhelm Strasse. The Casino is the famous landmark next to the Theater and the Kurpark is a large park behind the Casino that wanders out of Wiesbaden up to the Duke of Nassau's castle (1200 aD) in Sonneburg. From the Casino follow the paved walking path to the back of the park (1/2 mile) where a turnstile lets you exit the park proper and rejoin a cinder trail continuing uphill following a steam. Enjoy the park views and all the Germans walking their dogs and strolling their babies. The trail is meticulousy maintained and easy to follow. When in doubt follow signs to Sonneburg. After a mile the course gains elevation quickly and you find yourself at the entrance to the castle grounds, there is also a small restaurant (Grolliers) near the castle. Go through stone gate proceeding up road to castle. The view from parapet over classic German village of Sonneburg is worth the run. Gather your breath and enjoy the castle view and then its back downhill to the Casino. I run it every weekday at noon, so if you see a tall reddish haired guy wearing Asics Cumulus say "Guten Tag" (Good day). Lots of Americans from the American Arms Office Tower can be seen on this route.
