There are not any parks in Addis Ababa, so finding a good place to run is difficult. Many Ethiopian runners go to Meskel Square early in the morning and run back and forth and up and down the dirt bleachers there, which I would recommend because it is safe. As anyone living in Addis knows, running along the roads can be very dangerous. In addition, check out the Addis Ababa Hash House Harriers, which meets every Saturday afternoon, at approximately 2:15 pm. The group meets at the Hilton Hotel parking lot (near the hair salon) and then carpools to places just outside the city to run. While there is a small fee to participate, it is extremely minimal. For those not interested in a "hash" running experience, I would recommend attending a few times anyway, if only to identify fellow runners.
