The small town of Mavrovi Anovi, situated in the western part of Macedonia is a unique location to run at. Mavrovi Anovi is located on the shores of Lake Mavrovo and in the middle of Mavrovo National Park. The long road going around the lake is one of Macedonia’s most attractive hiking and running routes, my personal favorite. Mavrovo National Park is an alpine type of a resort with a very attractive skiing resort and first class accomodation facilities. The around Lake Mavrovo running path goes exactly through all these attractive and useful locations and facilities. A starting point that I would recommend for everyone’s running adventure in Mavrovo is the location of the Lake Mavrovo Dam (near the Mavrovi Anovi post office) and then to head running towards the Bistra Skiing Center that will lead you through the most beautiful parts of the Mavrovo National Park.
