Situated at an altitude of 1,330 meters (about 4000 feet) above sea level, Krushevo is the highest town not only in Macedonia, but also in the whole South East Europe. Krushevo is a famous skiing center in Macedonia, but also known as the place where the first Republic in Southern Europe was founded. In Krushevo there are excellent conditions for running. There are two routes that I would reccommend. The first one starting in front of Hotel Montana, continuing through the edges of a very nice pine tree forest heading to the town's center, and finally heading towards the Makedonium Monument of the Krushevo Republic and Lake Krushevo. The second attractive route that is nice for going running and hiking starts at the outscirts of Krushevo near the Makpetrol Gas Station, and heads towards a nice but steep asphalt road heading to the Mechkin Kamen monument that is actually situated on a plain of a hill surrounded by a large forest. From that plain, which is on an altitude of about 1700 meters above sea level, there is a magnificent view over the Pelagonia Valley. A view that will always stay in your memory when thinking about Krushevo.
