If you look at the Te Vaka webpage (http://www.tevaka.com) at the "Islands" page and the "Opetaia visits the Islands" page you will see that Tokelau is made up of many many small islets and the entire land mass of Tokelau including the three main islands and the huge number of islets is more than 4 square miles in total. To give you an example Fakaofo, the capital of Tokelau, which has one small shop which opens for about 2 hours on some days of the week - so no such thing as a city - would probably take you 5-10 minutes to run around the whole island, but 2-3 days from Samoa on a boat to get there.
