Rangoon (Yangon) probably won't rate as a great running city with its crowded and uneven sidewalks, crazy traffic and not many parks. The two big lakes in the city look - from a glance at the map - as if they should offer good running possibilities around their perimeters but in fact lakeside paths stop and start, there's nothing continuous. Plus the larger Inya Lake has the lakeside homes of a drug lord, a former dictator and Nobel Prize Winner (but under house arrest) Aung San Suu Kyi. Jogging by their front doors is not likely to make you very popular. In fact University Avenue, the street where she lives, would be a a very interesting street to try running down. There are military roadblocks both sides of her house. On the other hand the university and diplomatic zones are interesting areas to run with winding roads and not much traffic.
