Where to Run in St. Andrews? Where else, but on the Eric Liddell's "Chariots of Fire" beach?! Best run is out the door down one of the three St. Andrews streets along the Scores and onto the "Chariots of Fire" beach - the famous West Sands. From the Cathedral at the East end of town to the beach and back is approximately 6 miles plus. Into the wind it makes quite a stern test and work out! Or on a Sunday, the best place to run is the famous Old Course - always closed on Sundays to give the course a rest, it makes a wonderful 8 mile run to the end of the course and back again starting at the cathedral at the opposite end of town. Being the owner and resident runner of The Sporting Laird Hotel you may see me there!
