This is a great circular run taking in most of the town, a park, the beach and sea front. And you can vary the length between about 3 and 7 miles depending on how much of the beach you do. Start outside the old city gate at the end of South Street. Head downhill along city road for 100 metres or so before turning left down Kinnessburn Road opposite the Kinness Fry Bar. Follow the burn on the left hand side to the junction at the end. Cross and take the road opposite which bears round to the right. After another 100 metres or so, the road leads into a park. Keep going along the right hand path until you reach Woodburn Terrace. Cross and take the channel opposite, which comes out onto St Mary Street. Turn right and continue up to the mini roundabout, then take the channel on the left down to East Sands. Turn left along the beach (or the path on the top) which leads over the harbour loch, past the pier and up to the cathedral. Keep to the right along the sea front until the castle at the end of the Scores. Go down the scores, past the aquarium, and down onto West Sands. You can do as much as you like of West Sands (it's 3k's long) before turning back up past the eighteenth hole onto North Street. Turn left, cross the road again and right into Abbotsford Crescent. Turning left almost immediately brings you onto Hope Street. Run down to the end and turn left, bringing you onto city road again, with the city gate just in front of you.
