Stuttgart city is surrounded by hills, so most probably you will chose to leave the center especially if you don't want to run on asphalt. One very nice running area is the forest around the television tower about 7km south of the city center. It's rather flat and has excellently maintained trails. Suited for beginners or the short run after work, ideal for the 30-45 minute excercise. You can get there by car or public transport: Stadtbahn station "Waldau".
