If you happen to be in Dar es Salaam and want to go running, I suggest you should try the area around the Seacliff Hotel. Try the road passing by the Yacht Club and the Slipway, it's nice and quite safe, with a good view of the Indian Ocean. Early in the morning or late in the afternoon (around 5:30 pm) from July to September is ok, it's not very hot nor too humid; sometimes may be a bit windy. Running around during daylight is quite safe, but forget your watch, walkman or cardio! You'd better go out with nothing but your pants, vest and shoes. And if you can find friends or mates to go running with this is a much safer choice. Also, never try to go out running alone after the sunset... It's quite risky even for residents. If you need a contact in Dar, please drop me a line, I've got friends living there and I can help you with any information you may need.
