I usually walk West End in Tortola. I start out from Sebastian's on the Beach Hotel, Apple Bay, walk over the hill, than through Long Bay (along this bit of road you might still have a little bit of traffic). From Long Bay Beach I walk to Smugglers Cove (one of the best snorkeling-beaches on our island) and than continue around Steelpoint, which is the western End of Tortola over to the Ferry Dock in Sopers Hole, West End. On this bit of the walk you hardly meet any cars at all. I do walk a little bit along the main road through West End until the road goes up to Belmont Estate, which is the one short distance, where you do have some traffic. This entire walk is pretty hilly and the bit up Belmont Estate is quite steep and most of the time, I have to just continue looking on the ground, to not get to discouraged. After reaching the top of Belmont Estate I head back down through Belmont to Long Bay and from Long Bay back to Apple Bay and Sebastian's on the Beach. This walk is quite a workout, 5.6 miles, but you can have some nice shades on some stretches and you always have a nice breeze. In my best days it took me 1 hour and 15 minutes. The scenery you experience is exilarating and another bonus point to the workout.
