Ephesus/Selcuk. A wonderful run near Ephesus, the ancient and magnificent old Greek and then Roman city which has been called “the most marvelous Hellenistic ruin in the Aegean, and maybe the world”. I set out from Ataturk Cadessi (Avenue) in Selcuk at the foot of the hill where the sign directs you to the Basilica of St. John the Apostle (the sign says “Saint Jean”) and ran just a few meters southwest to Kusadasi Caddesi where the sign directs you to Ephesus. (The tourism information office and the Ephesus Archeology Museum are at that corner). Turn right and you soon reach a wide and flat tree-lined pedestrian path; at about two kilometers you pass the entry to Ephesus itself. For a 5k run, you can just turn around here and head back to your starting point. For 10k, just continue along the path for a little while longer. The road may even go farther than 5k; I didn’t check it out any farther than that.
