Run The Planet is proud to introduce our new affiliate Run.com, the best running route resource on the web. If you are looking for a new La Paz running route, or want to share your favorite La Paz running routes with the rest of the word, Run.com is the place to be.
What I like to do in La Paz and recommend to visitors that like to run, jog or walk is to wake up early morning from your hotel and walk up to the newly remodeled Boardwalk (Malecón) and stretch. The Malecón is 2.2 kilometers long and is facing the tranquil bay of La Paz and in the mornings is active with pelicans, sea gulls, storks and herons and the sporadic group of dolphin fins cruising for early breakfast call. The weather is ideal and the colder it gets is the low 60's - high 50's during the winter months. You start your run facing East away from the city towards the Sea of Cortez. It depends how much you want to go, but if you are up to a 5k, 10k or 21k you can follow along the boardwalk next to the highway that goes towards the beaches of Coromuel (3.6k), Caimancito (4.5k) following a good climb on a hill that gives an awesome view of the bay and the city. This is where I suggest the return as you pass the Hotel La Concha and go back to town. The roads are safe and cars are respectful of runners and bikers alike. If you are up for larger runs, then continue on the highway (now becomes a two-way road) up to the Ferry Terminal and the Beach of Pichilingue that is 17k away... so for round trip you are looking at 34k total. At any given time you can return. Costa Baja development right before the Pemex Oil Tank Stations is about 8k away from downtown so that is good workout for a La Paz tourist. Happy trails from the land of the fish and the home of the whales.
