Five km south of Amsterdam along the river Amstel is the village of Ouderkerk. Immediately south of the village you will find the "Ronde Hoep" polder. Around the polder, on top of the enclosing dike, is a country road that goes full circle, completely flat, about 17 km in very, very quiet, open countryside. Hardly any traffic, no dogs and not a single crossing, let alone traffic lights. Convenient if you are staying in hotels in the south of Amsterdam, like the Novotel, Meridien, Okura or Holiday Inn. An organised race every first Sunday in May.
