In southeast Connecticut, I recommend Bluff Point Coastal Preserve. All trail running, the main trail is a 3.6 mile loop that is mostly wide-open trail/dirt/gravel road. However, there are numerous other trails to explore (just keep an eye/ear out for the mountain bikers once you leave the main trail!). No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trails which lead you thru woods and meadows. Once you reach the Bluff, there is a fantastic view of Long Island Sound. There are bathrooms at the parking lot and out at the Bluff, however no water is provided. Directions: I-95 Exit 88. Take route 117 South to the end. Take a right onto route 1. Left at the first light onto Depot Road (just prior to Dairy Queen). Go through one stop sign. The entrance to Bluff Point will be on the right (under the railroad bridge).
