Leipzig's Auenwald has hundreds of kilometers of great, flat, running trails. Start at the Johanna Park on the south-western edge of the city center. Run west until you hit the little Elster river then pick any trail and go north or south. If you go south approximately 6 kilometers (passing the grunting forest hogs of the Wildpark) you will find the Cospudner See (lake). The trail around the lake (approximately 11 kilometers long) is quite nice, especially at sunset. If you are running at night, the Clara Zetkin Park and the area to the north of it is fairly well lit. If you are looking for one of the rare hills, the Fockeberg (approximately 1/2 kilometer; entrance off of Fockestrasse) has nice views of the city.
