There are nice roads around the campus of Ahmadu Bello University, good for jogging and running, sometimes used by students and faculty of the university. Another (that I haven't tried in full) is to start at the University Staff School and run south on the road to the dam, across the dam, and on a path past farms to the Kufena inselberg (a big, hill-sized chunk of granite), through some pretty savanna countryside. At Kufena, you meet a road that takes you to Basawa village and the main Zaria/Kaduna highway. Unfortunately, this isn't a loop path, so you have to back-track to return to your starting point.
