A great run in the summer in Cork is on the University College Cork playing fields in Bishopstown (locally called "The farm"). This is a series of playing pitches that if you run around all the edges will give 2 miles of running on grass. Many runners train there on the summer evenings with clubs such as Eagle Ac gathering there on Sunday morning.
