Kilmashogue Woods. A trail run not for the faint hearted! Out of Dublin, passing Marlay Park, heading for the Pine Forest. Just at the end of Columbas College grounds take a sharp left. Up a steep hill for about one mile and to your left is a car park. Enjoy the view over Dublin and get ready to run! The path away is just to the end of the car park, you can't miss it. Soft sandy flat trail invites you to ease in to it gently. Loft Pine trees above hide the views. A mile or so in you will pass the golfers below at Stackstown. Warming up now the hills, or Sbends, come thick and fast. About 3 miles of gradual climbing and your legs feel like lead. Ahead a long flat straight with the three rock behind. To your left, the reward! A maginficent view over Dublin and on a clear night the distant Mourne mountains. Recovering take great pleasure at the awe struck expressions of evening walkers. If you are feeling brave up higher to the Fairy fort and on to Tibradden. If you want to really run fast, hang a left and drop like quickfire down to the three rock car park. Whichever way you go there are new worlds to discover up there and far from the madding crowds too. Enjoy!
