Inspirational Run along the beautiful coast of Cascais. Start in Estoril, at the base of the Casino, on the "parãdao" - walkway lined with cafes along the oceanside, go right (north) for 1.5 km which then ends in Cascais harbour. Continue in the direction of the military fort and then Guincho. At this point you can run for a good 10 km of uninterrupted strech of beautiful coast along the road on gravel. If you go at sunset (any time of the year) it is really incredible to see the fiery red sun in the backdrop of the violent sea. But I still prefer sunrise as there are less cars. Always lots of runners. Some of my best runs ever been done here when I used to live in Portugal. If you make it to the end of Guincho Beach (10.5 kms from the Casino) reward yourself with a dip in the ocean then a drink and view at Bar do Guincho (running gear allowed)... but then you have to run back!
