Here is a 4.5 mile loop course near downtown Boston. I run it in the evening for my recovery runs. Start from Marsh Chapel Plaza at Boston University, head east on Commonwealth Avenue. Run past Kenmore Square at mile 0.5 and Massachusetts Avenue at mile 1. Continue on Commonwealth until it ends at Boston Common at mile 2. Turn right on Arlington Street. After 3 blocks, turn right on Boylston Street. Follow Boylston Street west. After 2 miles, turn right on Park Drive, continue for 0.4 miles and turn right on Saint Mary's Street, which will bring you back to Marsh Plaza. The highlights in the course include a "City Sports" store at 480 Boylston and a "Marathon Sports" at 671 Boylston, both carry a large variety of running accessories. Though there is no water fountain in the route, you won't have problem finding bottled water for sale. Enjoy!
