Running is not a very popular sport in Birlad especially with older runners. It is not wise to run in the city streets, but if one walks from the Moldova Hotel down towards the city park on the outskirts of the city, loops in the wooded park are quite enjoyable and very quiet. In Romania there are many stray dogs, so care must be taken when running there in the park. A high frequency device that emits noise only heard by dogs is recommended. At one end of the park is a football-soccer stadium that is accessible for lap on the grass. In terms of distance, the time on your feet and your pace dictates that.
