Bimbadeen lookout Cessnock. Approximately 50 km west of Newcastle in wine country. The lookout is approximately a 10km run/ride/drive from Cessnock and includes a few kilometers off steep uphill sections. You can get there through some of the vineyard areas using Mt View Road which includes some dirt road sections or on bitumen by going along Wollombi Road and turning off at the Bellbird mine disaster memorial. Both are great runs in themselves and quite challenging if you chose to run to the lookout. From Cessnock the round trip is around half marathon distance when turning around at the lookout depending of course where you start. If you are very fit and motivated and have run to the lookout: once at the lookout continue along the dirt track through the large metal gate. There are two tracks to follow, but they both join after about 1km, the right one is the steeper incline. This track forms part of The Great North Walk and is also quite hilly. The track ends after approximately 4-7 km. This is a great run on its own but remember to take water with you as there are no facilities at Bimbadeen. Plenty of stunning views to be had particularly from the lookout.
