There are several nice parks in Almaty where you can run: Gorky Park (loop is about 3k/2 miles), 28 Heroes Panfilovtsev Park (loop 0.5mile/800 meters), Rosha Bauma (4-mile/6.4k loop). Also you can run on Al-Faraby Prospect (1000m/3000 feet above the sea level) by sidewalk which lies along the very beautiful mountains and if you'll make a turn by any road to hills you can reach altitude up to 3500 meters (11500 feet). Also there are couple very interesting mountain races from 10 miles (15 km) up to 50 miles (86 km). Last one starts from Almaty and finish on the lake Issik-Kul (Kirghistan) with passes 3200m (10000 ft) and 3900m (13500 ft) altitude!
