Run The Planet is proud to introduce our new affiliate Run.com, the best running route resource on the web. If you are looking for a new Kyoto running route, or want to share your favorite Kyoto running routes with the rest of the word, Run.com is the place to be.
Running along the bank of the river is easy and flat on a paved surface. You can go on for quit a distance. In October 2002 there were tents and cardboard houses under the bridges, the dwellings of not so succesful community members I suppose. No inhabitants around though. Met a few local runners too, and quite a few Japanese taking their dog for a walk. Make a notion of where you enter the path as there are several bridges and it is easy to get off at the wrong one on your retour. A little tour up around the temples on the eastern side will get you some cultural runnning experience too, bring a map!
