Rondebosch Common in the southern suburbs of Cape Town is a popular training route. Approximately 2.5 kilometers in circumference, there are runners and walkers at almost all times of the day. The area is well lit. The Common itself is popular for exercising dogs but can be hazardous for running due to holes created by moles. The Celtic Harriers Club organises an informal 5 kilometers time trial around the Common every Wednesday evening, starting at 6 pm from the corner of Campground and Park Roads. There is no charge and anyone is welcome to participate. Times are taken and spot prizes are awarded. Water and toilets are available at the local garages.
